Tom and I went to see The Lion King at The Lyceum Theatre in London a few months ago now, and I have been meaning to tell you all about our amazing date day for a while. Tom had surprised me with tickets as I’d had a bit of bad news and just felt a bit down in the dumps, bless him, he knows how to put a smile on my face! We were having Disney withdrawals after coming home from Walt Disney World, so going to see The Lion King was the best idea (well done Tom!!).
We had a lovely dinner at Côte in Covent Garden, which is literally across the road from The Lyceum Theatre. It’s actually one of my favourite chain restaurants, I’ve always had very good service and delicious food there, so I would recommend it if you are in town for the theatre. They also do a pre-theatre menu which is really inexpensive and has some lovely options. We drank champagne and ate a gorgeous meal; it was the perfect place to go before the show!
After dinner we headed over to the theatre to take our seats, but not before buying lots of sweeties to enjoy throughout the performance. For those of you that have seen the show, you will completely understand how amazing it feels when the show begins…it literally gives you goosebumps all over and makes you feel all happy inside! I can’t help but well up when I hear that first note.
The performance was just incredible, I couldn’t fault it. Rafiki stole the show!! Her voice is like nothing I’ve heard before!! For anyone that loves Disney or musical theatre, it’s a show that can not be missed. The tickets may be a little bit more expensive than other shows in London, but it’s well worth the money. That I can promise.
Tom was such a star booking those tickets as a surprise, I am a very lucky girl, I love him all the world!! For anyone thinking of booking tickets (great Christmas present!), here’s a link to their website: http://www.thelionking.co.uk (I suggest buying them straight from the box office).
