My Week In Workouts No.1

Fashionably late of course…I DID say this would’ve been posted out Sunday evening, however, I ended up having a social life last night and going out on a Sunday (shock horror!) so today it is! I hope you all had a fantastic week last week, mine was fabulous and I really feel as though I’ve turned a corner with my fitness routine.

My motivation was stronger than it’s been in a long time; I really felt the desire to exercise and eat clean last week. It’s amazing what you can achieve if you put your mind to it, isn’t it? Don’t get me wrong now, my week wasn’t perfect; I haven’t grown abs over the course of a week, been able to say no to a Starburst or two, or suddenly improved my fitness level to that of an athlete, however, what I have done is achieve what I set out to do: start to find enjoyment in exercise again.

My week last week looked like this:

Monday – 3.5km with Tom, you know what they say ‘couples who workout together, stay together’, haha! We did not run this by the way; we went between a walk and a jog the whole way round. It allowed us to start the week with a nice gentle workout. Why put yourself off exercise? Enjoy it.

Tuesday – Dance and stretch: this class is actually something I teach! It’s a mix of dance cardio, ballet and stretching – great for flexibility, core strength and toning. I love taking this class, the ladies are amazing because they don’t give up, they’re willing to go further each class and it’s incredibly inspiring!

Wednesday – Clubbersize! I got all excited for this class as I’d heard a few people saying how much fun it was, however, I turned up and the teacher wasn’t there, so another lady covered the class and just took a boring old aerobics class! DISAPPOINTING! But still an hours worth of workout so not completely a waste of time.

Thursday – Dance in the space of my own home! I put my iPod in my amazing Bose speakers, turned them right up and danced around to Taylor Swift and Florence & The Machine! I did this for about an hour, got a real sweat on and had a blast.

Sunday – Hatha Yoga for an hour in a lovely small class held at a Sweaty Betty Boutique. It’s free, so I definitely had no excuse for this one. It’s a lovely class, quite fast paced for a Hatha Yoga but very enjoyable. A real focus on hip-openers and balance this week which was perfect as I have terrible flexibility in my hips so anything to help.

My favourite downtime activity:

Writing and blogging has helped me to relax this week; it’s been an excuse to spend an extra hour in bed with a green tea and my pretty notebook = pure bliss!

My go-to workout snack or meal:

MANGO – I bloody love Mango which is great as they are high in beta-carotene and vitamin C! They also aid digestion, neutralise free radical damage and boost the immune system which at the moment with lots of bugs going around, I could do a with a bus full of mangoes!

Who has motivated me this week:

I’m not ashamed to say that this week, I have been my own motivator! I have focused my mind on what I want and what I must do to get there and I have truly motivated myself, with a little help from Miranda Kerr of course…I mean who isn’t motivated by this:

So bring on the next week!! I’ve got some new goals, I’ll face different obstacles and I’m sure I’ll have plenty more fun! If you need a bit of extra motivation, look within, I promise it’s inside you!
