Great British Bake Off is one of my favourite programs on television and it’s finally back on. YAY! Surprisingly, even Tom has the GBBO bug, which I love because we get to share the excitement every Wednesday night together. With the new season kicking off I, like many others, went out on the hunt for new baking trays, cookie cutters and sprinkles in the hopes of creating something worthy of Star Baker.
I’m no Mary Berry, but from a young age I have thoroughly enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons getting creative in the kitchen. I baked cakes for everyones birthdays, I was the dessert provider on girls nights in, and I spent Friday nights whipping up an Apple Tart or two for my Mums lavish dinner parties. Yes, I was that cool. From Coffee cakes to Baked Alaskas, I tried my hand at everything. My amazing Mum happily bought me all my ingredients and encouraged me with new baking recipe books and tools. I loved it!
As I have gotten a little older, baking is something I just don’t seem to have the time or money for (baking can be SO expensive!). But with The Bake Off on and a Sunday off work to spend entirely with Tom, I just couldn’t resist a biscuit bake off. We bought some new Letterpress Cookie Cutters, which were on sale at John Lewis for £6, found a shortbread recipe on the BBC Good Food website and got our bake on.
My biscuits obviously ended up being pink and sparkly with soppy ‘I LOVE YOU’s all over, whilst Toms were a little less formal and a little more wild and miss-matched. He’d rather I didn’t showcase his…hahaha!
We’ve caused an absolute chaos in the kitchen with colour and sparkles everywhere, but it’s all been worth it. Now time it’s time to put our feet up and enjoy a few biccies with a Pukka Tea. It’s also film night tonight and it’s Toms choice: The Woman In Black. Ooooo…
Thank you for reading my new post, I hope you’ve all had an enjoyable and relaxing Sunday also.
